Hello all, today I feel Poopy!
It can be described as a crappy day on the cancer roller coaster. One day you are up and feeling OK, thinking in a positive and forward manner, the next day you are fearing all the negative stuff that can possibly happen. I know Daddy Lane is not going to go to that negative place but I have in the past (especially when I was 3000 miles away) and did today as well.
Friday Dad got a surprise visit from David M. and Ernie. They hung out on the back porch and laughed it up while I tried to finish a temporary base for the smoker so I could get some chickens, ribs and a yummy steak ready to get smoked. David hooked us up. He fixed the screen door on the back porch so it actually slides now and gave me a bag of pecan wood chips to use with the smoker! MMMMMM! Flava for days! Thanks Dave. Daddy Lane was tired, tired, tired after spending a great deal of time in front of his computer writing letters to delegates for his NARFE meeting.
We had such a wonderful weekend full of love and family and friends. Annette came without the dudes to visit on Saturday which was also my b-day, then she extended her visit till Monday AM, YAY! Saturday evening we had dinner with Chantal and Duncan (very cool people that we have been friends with practically since first moving to Maryland). Dinner was wonderful and the weather was as well, in the 80’s during the day and then light showers started around 10 PM.
I had an opportunity to go skate at the Bowie skatepark earlier in the day and had an awesome session with some new friends that were putting on a girls skate workshop (they have a non-profit called GRO-Girl Riders Organization) awesome to see my sisters out there shredding and pushing the younger generation to maintain a positive attitude in a male dominated community. I also heard a cool story about one of the women whom is raising wild flying squirrels with her husband.
Last night I got to hang out with Tom and Carly (and my East coast God Dog Noodles) for a second. I cooked them dinner since they’d just had their first child, little cutie pie Grey. They enjoyed the smoked chicken and boy, I can’t wait to help change some diapers and take Noodles for a walk while Momma Carly recoups from the cesarian.
Daddy Lane is doing well today, he had a rough night Friday that ended up with a Hospice nurse visit at 5 AM. His morphine was increased which has led to more time resting and being in and out of focus during conversations/visits. Dude remains cute as ever though and talks a lot in his sleep as well as making funny hand gestures. He says it is due to the fact that he is engaged in activities that require his manual dexterity such as folding laundry and helping organize paperwork. Very Cute Daddy Lane!
We are talking about trying to make it down to D.C. for an exhibit on early photography at the National Archives that Daddy Lane read about in the Degenerates Journal so I’ll keep you all posted on that, Daddy Lane did get all of the letters off to delegates for his NARFE meeting which was a goal that he had set for himself. Go Daddy, Go!
Thanks all for your support and continued encouragement!
