Can't enjoy my wine man! The stress & distress it brings to the ones I love.

We must live & love every day as fully as we are allowed. And, look forward because that's the only direction you can go.

We will make an arrangement with a local colon cancer support group.

Multiple flushes of bloody stool, spontaneous initiation & resolution, over four hours in mid-December 2004. Analyzed by a PA to probably be a manifestation of diverticulitis shown on sigmoidoscopy 2 yrs before. Six weeks later further flushings resulted in ER admission to Holy Cross Hospital January 31, 2005.

Blood transfusion immediately, multiple tests, & scheduled colonoscopy resulted in surgery Feb 5, 2005, showing the presence of a tumor just above the appendix that had to be removed. A 2 foot long section of the colon was removed & the ends reattached. Biopsy showed stage 4 disease with metastasis to the peritoneum.

Ok folks this posting is just to hold the wild blog hounds back and to pass on that I have not forgotten about you all nor have I run off with the circus, yet! There is no way I could fill everybody in in such a short amount of time how amazing the last week or so has been.

MomDadCpt

Times have been busy and my energy levels have been fluctuating a great deal, so I will take this opportunity to ask for your forgiveness for not writing in a while (therefore not keep all of you posted with Daddy Lanes status) and to say Thank You for waiting.

I believe when I posted last we were in the thralls of the wonderful visit with the Uncles, Tom and Bob, dads brothers. We all headed down to Richmond to hang with the Nelms clan and to observe their new home that they have recently acquired and are working very hard towards moving camp to. An additional plus for the time spent there was that cousin Cadden and her super star athlete son Marcos were visiting assisting with the move and making for a splendid time, cracking jokes, packing boxes, helping watch and entertain the little Dudes and making sure nobody was moving too slow. This is the type of example of our family that I love. Cadden taking the train with a soon to be 10 year old from Chicago to help her cousin move! Truly an inspiration!

The time flew like bananas. Flying bananas. And then we were on the road back to The D.C. area before you could say, “What time does Niki fly in tomorrow?”......That’s right folks Niki Lane made a special flight from San Diego for the weekend to hang with her Pop-Pop (after all, she is the one who that came up with that name for him when she was just beginning to learn how to talk) and to get as many home cooked meals as I could possibly be blessed with making for her. What a special time!

Niki and Pop-Pop.
Kind of like peanut butter and jelly or milk and cookies, reassuring and made for each other.

I was so happy to have been able to cook for the crew and see how well we all jelled. Truth told, Daddy Lane was having more and more trouble keeping up. The trip to Richmond really was taxing for him, yet was something that he really wanted to do and needed. So we put up with his requests to nap and chill. The party kept going and we had a great time getting to connect in ways that never would have happened were it not for, well, you know. Yet another gem in the midst of the whirlwind of emotions.

Cheers

Dad, Niki, his brothers and I were all able to make it over to Paul’s house for a cool little video session that was awesome! We all opened up and we got to hear some good childhood/adolescent stories that are neat little reminders that my dad had a life before the responsibilities of raising our family. Thanks Uncles!

So that is a brief review of last week from Wednesday to Sunday and I will pick up from there and throw in anything I may have missed next blog. For now though I have to get ready to go into D.C. with another crew of friends that are in town to spend time with Daddy Lane. Mike, Bob and Bill. High School friends that were rabble rousers and probably the reason that he went into the seminary.

With Love,
Timothy

THANKS FOR THE UPDATE. It sounds like you had a marvelous time with your wonderful family. I am sure it was a very special time for Daddylane. Daddy and Momma Lane looked so happy in the pic. My thoughts and prayers are always with you. Hugs, Joyce

Thank you for the update. I was wondering what was going on. What a wonderful family you have.

Love Sherri

Thank you Tim. YOU are an inspiration. We love you and are SO glad for our time with the Lane and Nelms clan.

Thanks for the pictures and the update. We enjoyed talking with Marion today and sorry we missed you and Tim, Jerry. Your close family connections and many good friends say so much about you, and we have such good memories of your visit earlier this year. We are thinking of you often and send our love.

Tim—what an incredible tribute. Loved all the photos and didn’t know whether I was laughing too hard to cry or crying too hard to laugh. I can’t believe the amazing creature (yes, I have to use that word, I have a son just like you!) you have become and your beautiful children and sister and her children. You turned out just like I thought you would—strong like your dad, independent like your soul, beautiful and kind like your mom, gentle like your sister. I’m so lucky to have known you and your family. Much love to all of you…..

Hi Jerry, Hi Marion!

You make me smile just at the same time as you make me cry. I am so sorry to hear that your illness continues to make life difficult. I really admire your cheerful courage—I know I rarely see you, but my prayers are with you, and thanks for the blog. I guess I believe that communication can provide a lot of healing, and even joy.

Gentle hugs,

patrise
