Can't enjoy my wine man! The stress & distress it brings to the ones I love.

We must live & love every day as fully as we are allowed. And, look forward because that's the only direction you can go.

We will make an arrangement with a local colon cancer support group.

Multiple flushes of bloody stool, spontaneous initiation & resolution, over four hours in mid-December 2004. Analyzed by a PA to probably be a manifestation of diverticulitis shown on sigmoidoscopy 2 yrs before. Six weeks later further flushings resulted in ER admission to Holy Cross Hospital January 31, 2005.

Blood transfusion immediately, multiple tests, & scheduled colonoscopy resulted in surgery Feb 5, 2005, showing the presence of a tumor just above the appendix that had to be removed. A 2 foot long section of the colon was removed & the ends reattached. Biopsy showed stage 4 disease with metastasis to the peritoneum.

Friday. Tough one.Views: 486

Friday 3/28 was slightly brutal.
Dad had to deal with a good amount of pain. He placed it in the 7 range again and it had him down for a good part of the afternoon. He describes it as cramping. From what understand it sounds a great deal like how the ladies get their monthly pains. OOOOHHHH! Sound intense. Man, all I know is that when it gets like this he is really quiet, and takes a lot of “naps” where his eyes are closed and he seems to be in a meditative state.
He took the Mag Cytrate to try and get the blockage moving. It worked!

Its tough to see someone that you care about in a great deal of pain and not be able to do anything for them. However, in typical Jerry Lane fashion the man just keeps pluggin away (not very punny as Dad may say). He was up and alert, joking with me about the news, when I got back from a short visit with my homeboys (where I got some good play time in with my East coast god-dog Noodles! Yayyyy!). Pops continues to bounce back.

Yesterday the video session with Paul had to be postponed, Paul was cool and gave Dad several times throughout the next couple of days that he is available. He said that Dad is only “1/2 way through his life”, meaning he has only completed talking about 1/2 of his life in the taping. Paul has transferred all of the sessions to DVD so we currently have 3 full DVD’s of Daddy Lane action! Dang! He’s not joking. Thats really strange, Daddy Lane was talking a lot?

So today, 3/29, Annette and David will show up from Richmond, VA-in the midst of their big move-in order to get some quality time with Pop-Pop. They will be spending the night here tonight! We are anxiously awaiting their arrival. Tito (Uncle in Tagalog, the Filipino language) can not wait to take David for a walk in the neighborhood and show him the areas in which I grew up. They were told to bring extra clothes because the creek is a lot of fun.

That is a wrap for now. Momma Lane is hanging in there and we really appreciate the response so far from this blogging deal. Hopefully we will post some great photos from the next couple of days soon.

Peace,
Tim

DadPaul

Thanks for the updates Tim! Everyday I wonder how you all are doing and knowing how busy Annette is right now, I don’t want to trouble her for the details. Thanks for sharing so openly. I love the photos, too…it’s fun to see everyone (except where are you?). I’ve also enjoyed seeing how much Annette and Jack’s boys have grown since seeing them last October at the beach!
Love and prayers, Jaime (and Walt)

Hang tough. Just finished my six month round of tests and fortunately all was well. Fact is that as the blog says, Cancer Sucks and always wondering if the next recurrence is just around the corner sucks even more. You are lucky to have such great children and friends, but perhaps it’s because you are reaping back what you sowed with your love and care for them.
Our love,
Paul
