Hello folks,
I was able to transcribe a little note from Daddy Lane this morning, it’s the post before this one.
His energy level yesterday was up a bit, or at least appeared to be from my perspective. He took less naps and was more gregarious. We started the day by checking the blog comments from people and then by having an early breakfast. We had over 50 visits from people in less than 24 hours! Then we got cleaned up and made our way to Paul M’s house where he is video taping Daddy Lanes description of his life history. It’s pretty amazing. Paul is a person that Dad has worked with a lot through NARFE (National Active Retired Federal Employees) so he feels real comfortable with opening up with him, so the information that us kids will really enjoy having just flows out. So far Daddy Lane has covered a great deal of his childhood, adolescence and some early adult memories. Paul has commented that he is very impressed with Daddy Lanes memory and his ability to recall seemingly minute details. This ones for the history books kids. I know my children will dig learning about their Pop-Pop’s youth/history by having the videos to remember their loving grandfather with.
After Pauls we went to the pharmacy to get more hard stuff, replace a broken medication organizer at the medical supply store and then grabbed some pizza and a steak and cheese (the Doctors have given him the green light to eat whatever his skinny little self wants to!) from an old high school haunt of mine called Continental Pizza, I can’t get sandwiches 1/2 this good in California!
We returned home and I began to organize a new medication chart so that Momma Lane (affectionately known as the Nazi Nurse in jest by Daddy Lane) will feel more at ease with tracking the medium sized (and probably growing) list of medications. Truly a challenge!
After making a late dinner for the senior citizens (I was told very lovingly that their schedule requires the meal to happen in a more timely manner, so no more slow cooked BBQ chicken unless I get started cooking earlier) we enjoyed time together and went to bed late.
Thanks for reading this and please feel free to check out Daddy Lanes photos and then comment on them…..please leave comments…..I don’t know why but it makes me giddy to get comments…..don’t ask why.
Love,
Timothy

Timothy:
Chantal gave me the information about this blog, and I am glad to get the updates. I exchanged some emails with Jerry late last year about clinical trials at Lombardi, but never heard if that worked out. I have known your parents for several years, and ironically am now the CEO of a national non-profit working in the area of colorectal cancer—the Colon Cancer Alliance. I know you have good support from each other, but if CCA can be of any help please don’t hesitate to ask. We have a big network of survivors of every description, and a lot of caregivers as well. Sometimes talking with someone who has gone—or is going through—the same experience can be helpful.
Please give Jerry my regards.

I love your idea of the video. All of you, especially the grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc will cherish that video. That is the greatest thing he could possibly do for all of you. I lost my husband in 2006 and I would love having a video that he made just to be able to hear his voice again.
Daddy Lane seems to be such a very happy, special person. Tell to hang in there.
I will remember you all in my prayers.
Many hugs, Joyce
Just want to Jump in and say Hi. Hug Sherri
